Ramtucky Rampage?

Ramtucky:
Ramsey, MN — the hometown of CrossFit Ursa — is a small bustling town ripe with rural traditions and urban visions … hence the affectionate nickname “Ramtucky”.

Rampage:
The CrossFit Open consists of 5 workouts spread out over the course of 5 weeks.  Our athletes will be crushing all 5 of these workouts at a blistering pace that can only be described as a “Rampage”!

Synopsis (Teams & Rules)

Teams of 2 athletes will work together to complete all five 2017 CrossFit Open workouts in one day.

  • Partners for the 2017 RR must fall within the same Division (gender and scale)
  • Teams will chose one division to enter and complete all workouts within that division
  • Teams will not have to declare their division until 24 hours prior to the event kicking off

The structure of every CrossFit Open WOD will be maintained as much as reasonably possible.

Additional rules may be added to each workout in order to make it more interesting for the duo day.

Athletes

Know Your WODs

  • It is your 100% your responsibility to know the workouts to their fullest prior to event day
  • Have a strategy for every WOD prior to event day (that includes a goal score)
  • We will hold a Judges Briefing the day prior to the event via Facebook Live.  If you have questions, you must view the event and ask while we’re explaining the workout.
  • In order to save time, we will not have a Judge and Athlete brief the day of the competition. It is your responsibility to view the briefing via CrossFit Ursa Members Only Facebook page live, or watch the recording.

Prepare For The Event

  • Practice each workout with your partner
  • Bring food, water, and supplements for the day
  • Sleep the night prior
  • Get some 2-a-days in at least 1 week prior to the event day
  • Taper off of heavy weights and high volume 3 days prior to the event
  • Have a plan for saving your hands, this event will be very hard on your hands and you will be at a high risk of “tearing”

Declare Your Division

  • We already have a good idea of what division you will be in, but make sure you officially declare your division by emailing austin@crossfitursa.com 24 hours prior to the event kick off.

Enjoy The Event

  • Have fun and don’t stress!
  • Take pride in the Ramtucky Rampage.  You’re the literally the first ones who have ever done this, and next year you’ll be hearing about many other gyms doing it.  Take pride in being the first!
Judges

  • Only 1 partner works at a time
    • Partner changes may only occur after a completed rep
  • Burpee Box Jump Overs must be started on the side that the last rep of DB Snatches or Burpee Box Jump Overs was completed
  • All other rules stated within the CrossFit Open score card and Judges Rule Book
  • Uncommon Movement Notice:
    • “Any movement deemed uncommon, out of the ordinary or used to amend, shorten or change the accepted movement standard or range of motion including line of action of any event movement can and will be disallowed. It is the responsibility of the athlete to notify their judge or CrossFit Inc. of any questionable movement before the workout.”

Special Rules & Considerations For Event 17.2

  • Lunges are a total of 48′
    • 24′ down, 24′ back
    • Must start at rig
    • 48 account for 6 reps, with every 8′ equaling 1 rep, as marked by the blue taped zones
  • Dumbbells must rest on the tops of palms (palms under dumbbells) during the lunge (basically a front rack position)
  • Scoring: Every “round” consists of 30 points
    • 6 points for 48 total fee of walking lunges
    • 16 points for toes-to-bar/hanging knee raises/bar muscle-ups/chin over bar pull-ups
    • 8 points for power cleans
  • Only 1 partner works at a time
    • Partner changes may only occur after a completed rep

  • Uncommon Movement Notice:
    • “Any movement deemed uncommon, out of the ordinary or used to amend, shorten or change the accepted movement standard or range of motion including line of action of any event movement can and will be disallowed. It is the responsibility of the athlete to notify their judge or CrossFit Inc. of any questionable movement before the workout.”
  • Squat snatches nor overhead squats are necessary to complete the snatch
  • Preservation Obligation applies: meaning, at any point a judge believes the athlete is at serious risk of injury, the judge reserves the right to declare the team finished with the WOD

Special Rules & Considerations For Event 17.4

  • Only 1 partner works at a time
    • Partner changes may only occur after a completed rep
  • Deadlifts:
    • Only one bar will be used
  • Wallballs:
    • No partner wall balls, before switching partners the ball must touch the ground
  • Handstand Push-Ups:
    • RX means 25lb High Temp plates straddling an abmat. Hands must remain on the plates, head must touch the abmat, elbows must reach full lock out.  The wall will not be taped or marked
  • Push-ups:
    • All will use 2 45lb High-Temp Plates, one for hand placement, one for foot placement
    • Hands must press off from the plate, no part of the body is allowed to touch the ground
    • The rep starts when hands are released from the plate (chest resting on the plate) and ends when the elbows reach extension
  • Row:
    • The handle may not be touched until the 55th push-up is completed
    • The handle may not be released until the 55th calorie is completed
  • All other rules stated within the CrossFit Open score card and Judges Rule Book
  • Uncommon Movement Notice:

  • OR, you may view the brief live and ask questions via the Facebook live event as well
  • OR … you may watch the brief after it’s completed … but your questions may not be answered to their fullest

WHY FACEBOOK LIVE?

  • Typically, the Judge and Athlete brief is completed the morning of the event.
  • BUT, this makes for a day that is about an extra 1.5 hours long.
  • In order to help you and the judges get more sleep and have more fun on game day, we’re performing a virtual brief.
